In Celebration of Wine in Rome, Osteria delle Coppelle Conceives Cantina Coppelle

Already a bustling small Roman square in proximity to the Pantheon, Piazza delle Coppelle hosts Cantina Coppelle, another innovative project which embodies Italy's rich gastronomic heritage. Conceived by Daniele Paolucci, the mastermind behind Osteria delle Coppelle, Cantina Coppelle invites wine enthusiasts to partake in a series of curated events celebrating Italian wine and beyond.

Every Thursday until the summer months, Cantina Coppelle transforms the historic square into a vibrant hub of wine culture. With a focus on fostering a relaxed and engaging atmosphere, guests are treated to an immersive experience where they can interact with the producers, sample their exquisite wines, and indulge in delightful pairings prepared by Osteria delle Coppelle. At the helm of this project alongside Daniele Paolucci is Livia Belardelli, a master sommelier and esteemed wine expert. Together, they aim to give voice to the wines of the cellar, allowing them to take center stage and share their unique stories with enthusiasts and industry professionals alike.

This initiative not only celebrates the rich tapestry of Italian wine but also commemorates a significant milestone for Osteria delle Coppelle, which marks its 10th anniversary in 2024. From its inception in 2014, the restaurant has evolved into an in demand culinary destination for both Romans and tourists, captivating diners with its traditional Roman cuisine and to which an exceptional cocktail bar was recently added, the speakeasy Club Derrière, which can be accessed secretly when walking through the wardrobe inside one of the restaurant's dining rooms.

The success of Osteria delle Coppelle paved the way for expansion, with a second restaurant opening in Rome's Parioli area and a venture into Milan's fashionable Via Solferino in October 2022. Now, with Cantina Coppelle, the spirit of discovery and conviviality extends beyond the confines of the restaurant, enriching the vibrant tapestry of Roman culture.

Since its launch, Cantina Coppelle has garnered enthusiastic support from wine producers eager to showcase their creations in this dynamic Roman gathering place. The protagonists from the first dates were from all over Italy: from Nebbiolo of the Piedmontese winery Dezzani; to the Amarone della Valpolicella of the Venetian winery Gerardo Cesari; to the autochthonous wines of the historic Calabrian winery Ippolito 1845. The calendar of Cantina Coppelle, still in the phase of evolution, will then see splendid Friulian whites, Tuscan wines, bubbles and many others that will accompany the coming spring.

As April unfolds, Cantina Coppelle welcomes esteemed producers to its lineup of events. The month began with the historic Prunotto, now under the stewardship of the Marchesi Antinori family. Their wines, born amidst the enchanting landscapes of Langhe, bring a touch of magic to the Roman cobblestones. Following suit on the 11th of April is Cantine Silvestri, renowned for their sparkling wines crafted since 1929, offering a taste of Lazio's winemaking heritage. The month culminates on the 18th of April with Tenuta Monteti from Tuscany, known for its elegant reds, and Friulian whites by Robert Princic, setting the stage for a month of May filled with new surprises.
