Slow Cooker Beef and Farro

With winter in full swing, I'm sure that all the slow cookers are out and busy preparing hot soups and other tasty slow-cooked dishes. Mine had been working non-stop ever since the winter season started. I had to work in creating recipes and at the same time, I find it a great convenience in putting all the ingredients together, pressing a button and making it work on its own until it's time to eat. It hands me the luxury of free time or rather more time in doing other things on a silver platter. I love my little helper in the kitchen!

Farro (Triticum Dicoccum) is an ancient grain that has been on the tables of the poor in the ancient Roman times thousands of years ago. It had stuck around in the diets of the people, dwindled at some point then evolved to the upscale restaurants in modern times. Fortunately, at present, it has reached a vast popularity among the health-conscious  people and in turn has become one of the most eaten healthy grains.

I have here a dish made of beef, farro and vegetables that I simply cooked together in the slow cooker. Like most of my slow cooker dishes with meat, I pre-cooked the beef in the saucepan first before putting all the ingredients together in the slow cooker, cooked for hours until it becomes tender. Check out this Slow Cooker Beef and Farro recipe that I created for Skinny Ms. and make your own healthy beef and farro dish at home.
