3 Simple Oreo Desserts

At one time or another, emergencies touch our kitchens especially when we are expecting company in short notice. Fortunately, almost all of us have a pack of Oreos in the cupboard. It's one of those necessities that we grab at the supermarket without thinking, whether or not we have kids at home. Only because we are kids at heart anyway. I am guilty of taking nips from my kids snacks every now and then. What I loved when I was a kid remains a favorite until I am all grown up and Oreos is one of them.

Here, I have three kinds of desserts that are simple to prepare and use easy ingredients including Oreos.

Oreo Peanut Butter Balls

What happens when you roll together Oreo crumbs and peanut butter together? Roll them together with oats and chocolate chips and out comes a fantastic snack or dessert that you won't be able to stop popping in your mouth. Another great thing about it is that it is so easy to make. Just pop them in the fridge for a couple of hours to get the right consistency and you're off to a delicious sweet roll!

Kids love these balls because hidden inside are chocolate chips and oats with the peanut butter and Oreo crumbs. Every bite is as exciting as the the next one. Really. If you are a kid at heart who grew up with peanut butters and Oreos, you will definitely love these!

Oreo Crust Ice Cream Tarts with Strawberries

I love these three desserts but to be honest, this one came out as a big favorite because I get to have fresh strawberries on top of vanilla ice cream on an Oreo crust. I love fresh sweet strawberries (or other kinds of berries too) on vanilla ice cream and to have a chocolate biscuit crust makes it even more delicious. Like the Oreo Peanut Butter Balls, these tarts are also so easy to make and they just need a few minutes of freezer time to harden the tart.

Technically, the Oreo tart base serves as the edible container of the ice cream. Serve these to your guests and your dessert will definitely be a hit. Not only are they a spectacle to see with the red strawberries with the green fresh mint sandwiched in between the fruit, but they are also delectable. Watch out though because it's hard to eat just one serving in one sitting.

Top the tarts with the strawberries only when you are ready to serve because when the strawberries freeze, they become too hard to eat. You can scoop the ice cream on the Oreo crusts then leave them in the freezer again ahead of time if you want to save time in preparing them. Work fast if you can so that the ice cream doesn't melt.

Oreo-Crusted Banana Spring Rolls with Vanilla Yogurt Dip

I love banana spring rolls that are coated with melted sugar as they turn golden brown and crunchy while submerged in hot oil. I know, it's not really for the faint-hearted but when you have them, you might just grab a bit more than you should. When I coated the spring rolls with Oreo crumbs and baked them, they came out extraordinarily chocolaty, crunchy and delectable.

Baking them gave made them less heavy and not greasy at all. It was also the best way to keep the spring rolls stay coated with the biscuit crumbs. Dipping them in the vanilla yogurt dip gives them a refreshing angle. The yogurt dip cuts the strong tastes of both bananas and Oreos to such pleasant blending of flavors.

These three desserts using Oreos are great ideas to put together anytime in the company of both adults and children. They will be stars of the table and the good news is that you won't be needing too much effort and time (just count out the fridge periods) in creating them. I hope you enjoy them as much as we did at home. Once an Oreo lover, always an Oreo lover. Have fun and enjoy!
