The 2019 edition of Luca Maroni's I Migliori Vini Italiani (The Best Italian Wines) will be held on 14 to 17 February 2019 at the Salone delle Fontane in th E.U.R. zone of Rome.

Luca Maroni is a well-known sensory wine analyst from Rome who has tasted more than 300,000 wines in his career. At the Bar Bacharach & Bistrot of Elizabeth Unique Hotel, you can try his selection of wines at the wine menu. With a different approach in understanding wines, almost three decades ago, he found an objective method in understanding wines through their perfumes, integrity and balance. He utilizes a unique approach to his evaluation of wines called the Sensorial and Synesthetic Wheel.

The wines are tested according to his evaluating method of a series of sensory analysis that are based on three principles – Consistency, Balance and Integrity of the wines. The quality of the wine is expressed with a vote of 100 which is equivalent to the Indice di Piacevolezza or Index of Pleasantness (IP). Ninety-nine (99) is the highest score that can be attained because one hundred (100) cannot be assigned to any wine because the perfect wine score goes towards infinity.

IP 99 (Maximum) = Consistency 33 + Balance 33 + Integrity 33.

The main protagonists of the event will be the 100 wine producers hailing from different parts of Italy with more than 500 different wine labels. Through the wine tastings at the event, we can comprehend the key concepts of the methodology designed by Luca Maroni.
