Slow Cooker Beef Stew with Chickpeas

When I received an assignment to make slow cooker recipes, I was stumped. I didn't have a slow cooker. So I Googled my way around the internet to look for shops in Rome that sell them. I found a couple of big shops that were supposed to be selling them but after asking the salespeople, they had no idea what I was speaking about. At the second shop, I was lucky. They had the last one on display. And the salesperson also didn't have a clue about what it was. What is a slow cooker?

I see a slow cooker as a life saver for people who don't have so much time in their hands but would still like to have home cooked meals and not rely on take-outs after a long day at work. It's great that you can leave all the ingredients inside in the morning while it does the work for you and keeps the food warm until you arrive home. It is a whole new world that I had discovered and over a short period of time, I was whipping up recipes left and right with my new best friend in the kitchen. It is fun!

This Slow Cooker Beef Stew with Chickpeas is such a success at home that I had to make it over and over again. It has a homey feel to it and the dish is very tasty while the meat becomes very tender after 6 hours of cooking. What's also nice about it is that I didn't have to clean the stove and there are no food spatters to speak of. Yes, it was clean alright!
