Flora Restaurant of Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora: A Culinary Adventure on Via Veneto

Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora keeps up with its 5-star luxury hotel status starting with its location along Via Veneto, an iconic setting associated with the Dolce Vita era in Rome. Nestled within the walls of the neoclassical Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora, Flora Restaurant stands as a culinary gem in the heart of the capital. With its opulent surroundings and commitment to excellence, this gastronomic haven offers guests an unforgettable journey through the rich tapestry of Italian cuisine. The restaurant’s setting, adorned with warm tones and luxurious furnishings, sets the stage for a dining experience. From the moment guests arrive, they are enveloped in the warm hospitality and refined atmosphere that define Flora.

At the helm of Flora’s kitchen since 2019 is Chef Massimo Piccolo, who has been with the kitchen brigade since the year 2000. He is a maestro of Italian gastronomy with a passion for showcasing the finest ingredients from across the country. Essential and recognizable preparations manage to communicate brilliantly with a clientele that is not only Italian and international, but above all Roman. With a menu rooted in regional traditions and elevated by Chef Piccolo’s creative flair, every dish is a masterpiece of flavor and texture. Whether savoring the simplicity of spaghetti with three tomatoes or indulging in the richness of Sardinian fregola with shellfish, each bite tells a story of culinary craftsmanship and culinary heritage. “It is my hand that works, as if my fingers were helped by the goodness of every single ingredient in the success of a dish,” states the chef about the raw materials.

The Menu

Flora’s menu is a celebration of Italy’s diverse culinary landscape, offering a symphony of flavors that captivate the palate. From the iconic carpaccio of red prawns to the comforting embrace of aubergine parmigiana with Neapolitan ragù, each dish is a testament to Chef Piccolo’s dedication to authenticity and innovation. With every bite, guests embark on a journey of discovery, exploring the nuances of Italian cuisine with each exquisitely crafted dish. The prices of appetizers and first dishes of pasta and risotto are between €16 to €28, the main courses around €24 to €34 and the desserts at €12.

Among the pasta dishes with the summer menu, the spaghettoni from Pastificio Felicetti with three kinds of tomatoes is the chef’s iconic dish. Seemingly simple yet elaborate in preparation, this classic Italian dish exudes refined flavors coming from the three different kinds of tomatoes used, the piennolo, datterino and pachino, each contributing its characteristic flavor profile to the sauce. The Sardinian fregola in crustacean sauce, lemon and stracciatella cheese is one of the highlights of Flora’s kitchen wherein the rich and complex flavors of the sea are contained in the saucepan where it is served.

Complementing Flora’s culinary offerings is an extensive wine list curated to perfection, featuring a selection of regional labels that showcase the diversity and richness of Italian winemaking. The menu is accompanied by an extensive wine list, with a rich variety of regional labels, from north to south Italy, including whites, reds, rosés and sparkling wines and a section entirely dedicated to champagne. Each wine is chosen to enhance the flavors of Chef Piccolo’s creations and elevate the dining experience to new height.

To complete the culinary journey, Flora Restaurant offers a selection of expertly crafted cocktails that marry tradition with innovation. From the refreshing Skyscraper to the aromatic Cinnamon Old Fashioned, each cocktail is a work of art, designed to complement and enhance the flavors of the cuisine. The bar at Flora is led by mixologist Alessio Mercuri, who, after gaining his experiences abroad including England and Australia, has made Flora as a destination in its own right, where guests can indulge in expertly crafted libations in a setting of timeless elegance.
