Chiara Soldati of La Scolca Winery: After Being Appointed as Cavaliere del Lavoro, What's Next?

Chiara Soldati, CEO of the prestigious Piedmontese winery La Scolca, was recently appointed as one of the 25 Cavalieri del Lavoro (Knights of the Order of Merit for Labor) by the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella. It is an honorable recognition which acknowledges the 103-year long commitment of her family to viticulture. The company, which has been under the guidance of Chiara since 1997, who comes from the fourth generation of the family, has long been distinguished by the great commitment shown towards current issues such as circular sustainability, the internationalization of the Gavi brand and Made in Italy, raising awareness of a conscious consumption of wine, and attention to quality.

Prior to the prestigious appointment as a Cavaliere del Lavoro, Soldati has earned a long series of important awards for her dedication and foresight in running the company. These are the "Dea Terra" award conferred by Mipaaf in 2005, the Nebbiolo d'Oro conferred by the Piedmont Region in 2007, Federmanager Woman of the Year and Successful Entrepreneur in the Agriculture sector from the Chamber of Commerce of Alexandria in 2008, and the Paul Harris, the highest honor of Rotary Club in 2011.

"This honor is an immense pride," comments Soldati, "not only for me, but for all those who contribute to the growth of the company. It is with them that I want to share this result, taking it as a starting point for not stopping and looking even further, confirming us as promoters of enlightened and exemplary entrepreneurship."

This new milestone has led her to view a new step forward, looking headstrong towards the future of the company with conviction and courage, aimed at the consolidation of the success of the Italian wine sector. Already this summer, the busy calendar of La Scolca is amplified with new initiatives. Starting with visits to the vineyards, where guests will be able to see more closely the company's commitment to respecting and enhancing the territory. There will also be the opportunity to attend cooking shows by famous chefs from the IFSE school, whose creations will be combined with La Scolca labels. The menus proposed will be seasonal, maintaining a particular focus on mushrooms, truffles, fish or meat at the different times of the year with a view to involving the territory.

Whereas for a more comprehensive sensory experience, the vertical tastings of the historical vintages of La Scolca should not be missed which is a unique opportunity to understand the peculiarities that lie behind each harvest and the evolution of the wine. Nature lovers looking for the right opportunity to be outdoors will enjoy the suggestive picnics between the rows of vines, accompanied by the company's labels. Wine will also be the protagonist of the exclusive packages made available by La Scolca, in which it will be possible to devote to an afternoon of golf with a professional teacher, relax with a day of shopping in the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Serravalle, or combine the vertical tasting of Gold Edition La Scolca to visits to the goldsmiths workshops in Valenza and much more. La Scolca has always looked beyond national borders, becoming an ambassador of Made in Italy abroad and regularly exporting its products to as many as 50 countries.

With these intentions, since February of this year, Soldati has scheduled monthly visits across the border, starting with leading players such as the United States and the United Kingdom, but also looking at growing wine markets such as Greece, Turkey and Asia. Precisely on the occasion of Soldati's trip to the United States, the partnership between La Scolca and Coravin was presented, a synergy that combines the history and tradition of the former with an eye always turned to innovation of the latter.

“It has been and continues to be a very busy year," concludes Soldati, "but we are noticing great enthusiasm on the part of all the players involved in the various activities. In a period of great difficulty like the one we are experiencing, La Scolca is reaping the fruits of a company philosophy based on authentic values such as attention to quality, fusion with the territory and respect for the public of consumers which constitute the lifeblood that feeds its reputation, indispensable, now more than ever."
