The Pink Wines of Bosco del Merlo Symbolize Life in Rosè, A Commitment to Fight Against Breast Cancer

There’s never enough pink especially in summer and while the Barbie craze is going on. So let’s think pink! But Bosco del Merlo is not going with the flow of the current pink trend. Their pink theme has a motive, a very important one for that matter, and had been in place for a long time.

Bosco del Merlo is one of the wine estates of Casa Paladin. Its philosophy of sustainability in the vineyards and cellar is one its strongest points. Their Reasoned Viticulture or 4Vs: Respect for the Vine (Vite), safeguarding the Green (Verde), producing sustainable Wine (Vino) and protecting Life (Vita), where the vineyard is considered as an ecosystem that is carefully managed to preserve the territory’s biodiversity and to guarantee the qualitative productivity while safeguarding the health of the consumers and the environmental. They use less sulfites than the standard limit and they don’t use chemicals. As expected, the wines are respectful communicators of a healthy well-being of a person.

Life in Rosè

Over the years, Bosco del Merlo has availed of the consultancy of renowned oenologists such as Franco Bernabei and Leonardo Valenti, and of the best technicians from the Faculty of Oenology and the Faculty of Agriculture of the Universities of Padua and Milan, always in search of the most avant-garde solutions to obtain the best quality with the least environmental impact.

The Life in Rosè project (#lifeinrose) stems from Bosco del Merlo’s commitment in supporting the prevention and fight against breast cancer, donating part of the proceeds from the sales of its two pink wines to LILT (Lega Italiana per la Lotta Contro i Tumori) in Treviso. Symbolising the project are Prosecco Rosé DOC and Pinot Grigio Rosé DOC distinguished by their color and par excellence associated with the feminine world. The collaboration between Bosco del Merlo and LILT has resulted in a donation of € 24,000. The funds raised are used for activities and health education on raising awareness on early diagnosis and primary prevention of breast cancer, including treatment and rehabilitation.

Prosecco Rosé DOC Millesimato Brut 2022

A blend of Glera and Pinot Nero grapes from the year of harvest. The Pinot Nero goes through 2 -3 day of maceration in steel tanks until blending with Glera. The effervescence is obtained from the Charmat Method in steel tanks at low temperature and frequent batonnage to enhance the fragrance and fine perlage. The period of taking foam is beyond 60 days. Brilliant light pink in color with fine and persistent perlage. Fresh, fruity and floral in the nose with notes of crispy pears and apples, pomegranate and on the palate, the freshness and the olfactory notes are notable with a thin layer of sapidity.

Pinot Grigio Rosé Venezia DOC 2022

The Pinot Grigio grapes are selected from the most windy and sunny vineyards where they are at their best health and ripeness. The harvest is fragmented to reach the perfect balance between the acidity note from the first pick and the aromatic and fruity notes with the second one. Each pick is vinifed separately, but follows the same crio maceration process at low temperature to obtain a light copper color. The process goes on with a soft pressing and a fermentation. After the ageing on fine lees in steel tanks for some months, the two parts are blended together in order to exhalt the organoleptic notes. The color is between copper, salmon and pink – a beautiful color. A pleasant nose where you can perceive the crispiness of pears, strawberries and a field of spring flowers while on the palate, there is great balance and elegance with a persistent finish.

Bosco del Merlo

Bosco del Merlo, belonging to the Casa Paladin Group, was founded in 1977 in Annone Veneto when Valentino Paladin realized his dream of creating wines from sustainable practices that could best express the potential and identity of the territory. The estate is located between two Italian regions: eastern Veneto and western Friuli. Being a territory that was previously covered in oak forests, they came up with the company name based on the topography of the area.
