Borgo La Chiaracia Resort & Spa Starts its Summer with its Annual Picnic del Borgo

The journey of Borgo La Chiaracia, a five-star resort & spa nestled on the plateau of Alfina in Umbria near the Lazio border, continues with the new season of rising summer temperatures. Summer has arrived in their gardens with a festive celebration of their annual event, Picnic del Borgo. The grounds, immersed in expansive gardens and rows of vineyards, offer breathtaking views of the gentle green Umbrian hills. Tablecloth-covered tables under gazebos and the shade of centuries-old trees, accompanied by a clear blue sky and soothing breeze, created a beautiful spectacle of the mergence of nature and luxury.

Located just 140 kilometers from Rome, Borgo La Chiaracia is a perfect retreat from the frenetic pace of the city, reachable in less than two hours by car. The experience to this enchanting destination begins as you enter a gated estate and follow a long driveway lined with ancient oak trees, culminating at a charming two-story stone structure. 

Picnic del Borgo has celebrated its second edition dedicated to street food, marking the official start of the open-air season at the resort. Under the guidance of General Manager Matteo Calcabrini, the extraordinary food and wine event seamlessly combines tradition, luxury, eco-sustainability, and culinary delights, showcasing the excellence of regional gastronomy. Executive Chef Daniele Auricchio, hailing from the Campania region with a deep passion for Umbria, has curated a selection of recipes that reinterpret his culinary principles in a street food format. His creations with the support of his brigade, featured twenty savory dishes and three sweet treats, highlighted the seasonality of local ingredients and precise cooking techniques. Desserts featured the Pastry Chef Rosalia Fantucchio's homage to her Sicilian roots with brioche col tuppo paired with gelato made from hazelnuts produced at La Chiaracia. 

With tables spread out under centuries-old oaks, vineyards, hazelnut, and cherry trees, the event had the ambiance of a refined food festival, with various stations set up throughout the expansive garden of the resort. The food was complemented by wines from five local Orvieto wineries namely: Podere Orto, Cantina Neri, Palazzone, Danielli and Madonna del Latte and specialties from an artisan brewery in Alfina, curated by Maître Sommelier Mauro Clementi. Clementi, a professional who passionately oversees the gourmet experience at Radici and the traditional offerings at La Pagoda, both in-house restaurants of Borgo La Chiaracia, the coordination of the impeccable service provided by the dining room team.
