Terra Restaurant in Eataly Rome Lights Up Its Unique Wood-Fired Artisan Oven Again

Terra Restaurant, now arriving on its third year, located on the second floor of Eataly Rome, opens its doors again after a long pause and turns on its one-of-a-kind oven to showcase their grilled cuisine. This three-meter machine was specially created by an artisan in Spain in a span of five months which is fueled only by virgin oak wood from Calabria, a southern region of Italy for the unique aromas that they give. Terra is a restaurant that highlights the true heart of its philosophy by grilling raw materials of superior quality.

Cooking on fire means cooking with great simplicity and quality which takes out the genuine characteristics of the dishes. With the re-opening, a few novelties are highlighted specifically the possibility to directly choose from the daily selection of the best meat and fish from the fresh food stalls of Eataly, the weekly variation of the local dishes and a very good selection of wines by the glass. The fish come from the cooperatives of fishermen of Lazio region, the vegetables from the best farms in the area while the meat are selected from the best Italian producers including the Fassona Piemontese de La Granda, a Slow Food Presidium.

The menu has a range of grilled entries that are put together that best culminates the aromas and flavors as supervised by Eataly Rome's Executive Chef Mario Santamaria. The appetizers are varied from raw proposals of meat and fish like the Fassona Beef Tartare and the Amberjack Tartare, around €11; Grilled Lamb Skewers at €8.80; and the Ottotondo and Ventricina (grilled biological bread and pork sausage) at €7.80. There are also Pasta and Risotto dishes at €14 to €16, and of course the grilled main course that varies from €14 to €27 like the Hamburger Giotto at €14; Duck Breast with Mustard and Onions at €18; Pork Belly on a Spit at €17; Grilled Mackerel with Pappa al Pomodoro at €14.80; and the Beef Fillet Smoked in Alpine Hay with Grilled Carrots and Steamed Chard at €27. A wide range of wine by the bottles as well as by the glass are available, along with a selected number of cocktails.

With the reopening, Terra has started its step in highlighting gastronomic dinners with three important chefs starting with Cristina Bowerman (7 October), the Italian chef of Michelin-starred Glass Hostaria who has lived for a long period in the US; Roy Caceres (25 November), the chef of Michelin-starred Metamorfosi Restaurant who originally hails from Colombia and was transplanted to Rome; and Hirohiko Shoda (2 December), a famous Japanese chef who appears in the Italian television. They will be creating their interpretations of grilled cuisine that will be a journey through different cultures united by the world of fire.
