Macedonia di Frutta al Limoncello

I'm in a blogging binge here so have patience with me.  I had been scrolling down my posted recipes and when I reached the fruit part, I was surprised that I haven't shared this one yet.  I do have a an old post about the strawberries with Limoncello or Vermouth.  This is the basic fruit salad here that I immediately loved as soon as I learned it from my mother-in-law as soon as I moved here.   It's a typical way to serve the fruits after a big meal whatever season it is but it is served more in spring and summer when the fruits in season are in abundance.

Both my kids are fruit lovers (Thank God!) so this is a platter that they enjoy too, next to a bowl of strawberries and frutti di bosco (berries).   They are actually the ones who remind us about the fruit after a meal, favorites being pears, pears, apples and pears.  Sometimes they even eat too much that we are the ones who tell them, "Basta!"  (Enough!).  Okay, I'm not really proud of saying that but if every meal extends to two hours, you would say the same thing too.

I always prepare two versions of macedonia.  The kiddie version is dressed with sugar and lemon while the adults' has both plus Limoncello, or sometimes Vermouth.  I measure all the quantities by eye and by taste, rarely keeping tabs on the precise amount I put.  I tried to measure them when I made this, but my taste can be different from yours so adjust everything according to how you like it.   If you top this with sorbetto al limone (lemon sorbet) or other flavors like peach, mandarin, or the pineapple sorbet of Lemons and Anchovies, it would be exceptional.

Please don't forget that I still have the giveaway of Bronte pistachios, almond paste brick and Sicilian dried oregano, going on until Sunday, the 3rd of June at 12 Midnight, Rome Time (GMT +2).  Please click on this LINK to go to the post with the instructions.  Thank you!
